RESEARCH AWARDS

  • Dr. B S Nagoba, Prof. Of Microbiology has been awarded one international, two national and two state level awards.These are as follows:
    1. Awarded  “ASIRSCON” Best paper award at the auspicious hands of Hon. Vilasraoji  Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra State, for paper entitled, “Treatment of superficial nosocomial infections: a newer  & economical approach”, in National Conference of   Association of   Surgeons of India  (  Rural section) in Oct. 1998
    2. Presidential Oration Award for Presidential Oration on, “Treatment of wound infections: a novel concept”, in 6th Maharashtra Chapter Conference of Indian Association of  Medical Microbiologists at Govt. Medical College, Nagpur (Sept. 2000)
    3. Best Poster Award
      Awarded best poster award for paper entitled, “Management of  chronic wound infections: a newer approach”,  in the International Conference on Global Sustainable  Bio-Tech  Congress 2000 A.D. held at Nagpur on 27th Nov. to 1st  Dec. 2000. Award consisting a cash prize of Rs. 2500/- & a certificate was given away at the auspicious hands of Prof. Dr. Carlos Romeo- Casabona, Director, Inter-university in Law & the Human Genome, Spain.
    4. Dr. Sharadini Dahanukar Best Teacher Award – 2003-2004 Awarded by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik for excellent academic achievements and honored with Gold Medal and certificate of  honor at the auspicious hands of Dr. Jabbar Patel – a well known Director, Producer, story writer and Doctor and Hon. Dr. Ravi Bapat, Vice – Chancellor, MUHSNashik.

    2. K U Shah Senior Consultant Award -Silver Medal & Certificate at the hands of Dr Grewal president of AOI Association of Otolaryngologists of India in National ENT Conference -2005

National Service Scheme (NSS Unit)

1) Social Programmes :-

The College has full fledged NSS Unit of MUHSNashik. This unit carries out various activities as per the guidelines of MUHSNashik, in which presently 75 student volunteers participate in various activities like campus cleaning, drug counselling and health education by way of awareness rallies, person-to-person consultation, promotion of national integration, health surveys, etc in and around Latur city.

 

Rural Health Social Service (RHSS) Unit

The College has set up a special extension unit particularly to take up rural/ slum areas of Latur District called Rural Health Social Service (RHSS) Unit. RHSS is the vehicle of the college to encourage students and teachers to actively participate in all extension activities. The RHSS unit circulates notice to inform staff, students and interns about extension activities and encourages them to participate actively.

 

Health Centers – The management has set up the Saraswati Karad Rural Hospital at Rameshwar (Rui), 27 Km. away from Latur and an Urban Health Center in Khadgaon area of Latur. The faculty members and students actively and regularly participate in providing Healthcare Services in these two centers.

 

2) Extra Curricular Activities

The institute has an auditorium with seating capacity of 1000, separate play ground for outdoor games (Cricket ground, Holley ball ground, foot ball ground, basket ball ground, Kho-kho and kabbadi ground) and separate provision for indoor games (badminton, Table tennis, chess, carom, etc.). In addition, there are separate gymnasiums in boys and girls hostel for students and one in hospital building for staff as well as students. These facilities are used for annual social gathering, Ganesh utsav, sports events and various other competitions and various other activities.

The institution encourages students to participate in various extra Curricular activities like cultural, sports, debate computations’ and youth festivals etc. appropriate infrastructure for development of sports, games and hobbies.
