Dr. Ajay M Gavkare
Professor and Head, Dept. of Physiology

Dr. Ajay M Gavkare is working as a Professor and Head, Department of Physiology. He has completed his MBBS qualification in 2002 from Government Medical College & Hospital, Aurangabad following which he completed his post graduation in MD Physiology in the year 2010 from Dr VMGMC Solapur. He has total 13 years of teaching experience. He has participated in national conferences; presented posters and papers and having various publications in national & international journals. He has completed is Basic & Advanced Course in Medical Education. Also invited as Guest Speaker/Resource person in various Conferences/Workshops/FDPs. He has been actively involved in UG & PG teaching.

Physiology, a basic science of medicine mainly concerned with study of normal body functions in human beings. Its main focus is on functioning of each organ system & its regulatory mechanisms and can deal with the pathophysiology of diseases and possible interventions.

The Department of Physiology, MIMSR Medical College, Latur, functioning since 1990 and promoting need, value and skill based education to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The department has experienced and skilled faculty which trains and educates the students to be competent in understanding concepts in Physiology. The teaching program includes extensive clinical and laboratory training of students in the areas of Clinical and Human Physiology. The Department caters to the learning needs of students by maintaining academically vibrant environment. The department has all the modern equipment, instrument and a well developed infrastructure for the best quality T-L process.

The department offers Undergraduate and postgraduate course in the Physiology with intake capacity of 150 UG and two postgraduate students per year. The students are extensively trained and empowered according to the competency based syllabus as prescribed by the NMC & MUHS.

To impart quality education in the subjects of Basic & Applied Physiology so as to provide a strong foundation to build an Indian Medical Graduate (IMG)
